Addiction Treatment and Buprenorphine Care in Columbus, Ohio

For those seeking recovery from addiction, the first step is detoxification. At Springway, medical staff work to keep you safe and reduce withdrawal discomfort, then support your recovery with medication-assisted treatment, counseling and social support.

What we offer

  • Medically assisted detox with medical staff supporting your safety and comfort
  • Buprenorphine treatment for opioid dependence, as part of medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
  • Buprenorphine/naloxone options such as Suboxone and Zubsolv, where clinically appropriate
  • Counseling, behavioral therapy and social support alongside medication
  • Supervised taper and rehabilitation when you and your provider decide the time is right

Who it is for

Buprenorphine can be an option for people who prefer not to use a methadone clinic or find one less convenient. It is combined with counseling and support, and your provider decides whether it fits your situation.

How buprenorphine treatment works

Treatment with buprenorphine usually moves through three phases, each guided by your provider.

  1. Induction

A medically monitored start, begun after a period without opioids (typically 12 to 24 hours) once early withdrawal symptoms appear.

  2. Stabilization

Once opioid use has largely stopped and cravings and side effects have eased, your provider may adjust your dose and schedule.

  3. Maintenance

A steady dose, for a length of time tailored to you. Some people later taper under supervision, followed by rehabilitation with or without medication.

Is it right for me?

  • You have been diagnosed with opioid dependence
  • You are willing to follow safety precautions
  • Your provider has confirmed there are no health conflicts with buprenorphine
  • You have reviewed your treatment options with your provider

Safety and side effects

Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, muscle aches, cravings, insomnia, irritability and fever. Avoid illegal drugs, alcohol and sedatives while in treatment, and your physician should monitor your liver health. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are thinking about switching from methadone, talk with your provider first so the safest plan can be chosen for you.
